Dance Portraits With a Ballerina

When Jordan's parents placed her in dance at age three, they had no idea they were putting her on a career path.

At age 14, Jordan knew that she wanted to pursue ballet for a living. She now practices 30-40 hours per week, and completed high school online. Jordan was offered academic scholarships at TCU, OU, and Pepperdine, but is choosing to pursue her dream to dance professionally with a ballet company. Before leaving for college, we had the opportunity to help her create some incredible portraits in our Dallas photography studio. 

Meeting her and her family and spending time with them during the shoot was such a joy. We even found a few beautiful, vintage dresses from my Resale Diva Finds to incorporate into her shoot.

I wanted to finish up with some really soft and delicate portraits. We wrapped her hair with a piece of tulle fabric, and I even put a small piece of tulle in front of my camera lens to gently soften everything. 

Seriously, such a fun session. I love how you can see her grace flowing all the way through her fingertips. Jordan plans on spending her second summer with Ballet West in Utah, as well as Oklahoma City Ballet, both on full scholarships. To dedicate the required hours of practice, she is completing her college classes online. 

Jordan is such a great example of how if you pour your heart and soul into something, you can really make any of your wildest dreams come true.
